I've seen similar in Fargo ND. It's not quite completely gone, but a whole lot more sparse than it was a year ago. My guess is that they want to push the Masterforce brand. Very disappointing for me as they were my source for the best combination of quality and value. John Menards got hi start in retail by buying closeout lots from manufacturers and distributors. Although his empire has grown tremendously over the years, there is evidence that he still does that to a limited extent. No other way to explain the low prices occasionally observed. Looking up the model number, every other vendor listed it as discontinued, yet Menards had dozens in all the stores I looked at.
I have been in three different Menards in the past couple of weeks. I always check the clearance aisle. All three stores have what's left of the Craftsman hand tools in the clearance section, but they don't have clearance prices on them. Probably bought a "lot" of stuff to counter lowe's and found it didn't sell well. Took it to lowes. Punches haha soft as balin wire. It seems a few stores try it and never really kick it in fully. Ace handles craftsman but slow at replenishing stock Lowes the same deal.. The same with Fleet Farm just a small section. No one has done it like Sears like I've seen yet. Stanley bought the Craftsman name brand. The quality hasn't been there for years.

The name lives on. The Craftsman name was sold a few years ago. You can find Craftsman all over. Even Walmart has some on the shelves. I imagine that is all new Chinese stock. Made me wish I bought the Craftsman. I have an old belt sander that's made in USA. Even have a very old drill press USA.
